THE FDNY RADIO OPERATES LOCALLY AND IS "REPEATED" SO EVERYONE IN THE CITY CAN HEAR. WHEN AN FDNY MEMBER WANTS TO TRANSMIT
SENSITIVE INFORMATION TO THE DISPATCHER, HE/SHE REQUESTS THE DISPATCHER TO TURN THE MIXER OFF. THIS DISABLES THE REPEATER
TEMPORARILY SO THE DISPATCHER CAN HEAR THE MESSAGE AND NO ONE ELSE CAN.
The audio streams on theBravest.com are presented using the latest HTML5 technology with a fall back to flash for older browsers.
The purpose for this methodology is to offer the broadcasts to as wide a range of listeners as possible. While we endeavor to make
the experience enjoyable for everyone there are some restrictions placed within browsers and operating systems that we must live with.
Each time you click on an audio feed it opens a new window. This is to allow members to monitor more than one feed at a time.
If you experience an echo sound on a feed you probably have the same feed open in two windows. Try closing one.
If you only want to hear one feed. Close all other windows.
IOS SYSTEMS (IPAD, IPHONE)
IOS prevents audio from starting automatically. You must press the play button to activate.
IOS will only allow one audio feed to play at any given time.
For a more robust IOS experience please download and use the I-TUNES App.
GOOGLE CHROME BROWSER
Some versions of Google Chrome will only allow one audio feed to play at any given time.
If you experience this you may want to consider upgrading your browser or trying a different browser
